Florence Gaub

Florence Gaub is one of Europe’s most prominent futurists. She analyzes how our vision of the future shapes our actions in the present—and what new possibilities arise when we break away from familiar patterns of thought. In a keynote address followed by a discussion, she will explore the boundaries that define our present and those we must transcend in our thinking. How do crises change our view of tomorrow? What new possibilities emerge where familiar certainties end? And how can scenarios help us remain capable of taking action in times of uncertainty and upheaval?

Dr. Florence Gaub is a political scientist, military strategist, and futurist; she serves as Director of Research at the NATO Defense College in Rome. In this role, she advises governments and international organizations based on future scenarios and trend analyses. Her latest book, *Scenario. The Future Is at Stake (2025) offers geostrategic insights and demonstrates that historical fatalism is unwarranted.
