Itai Yanai

Why do we humans no longer have a tail? An analysis of the human genome came to the conclusion that a genetic mutation very probably caused this change. It is assumed that apes also underwent a similar mutation. This discovery is the result of curiosity coupled with open research, known as "night science". Geneticist Itai Yanai shows how artificial intelligence could revolutionize this night science, for example in cancer research or the study of embryonic development.

Itai Yanai is Professor at the Department of Systems Genetics, Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine.
