Julian Nida-Rümelin

Julian Nida-Rümelin has never pursued philosophy from an ivory tower, but has always intervened - courageously, committedly and passionately. At the same time, his thinking is characterized by the confidence that reasonable arguments make understanding possible even in heated debates. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, his new book Ähren im Wind. Politische Orientierung in fordernder Zeit (2024), he combines his personal experiences with reflections on the civil culture of democracy and its threat from right-wing populism and left-wing intolerance.

The renowned philosopher Prof. Dr. Julian Nida-Rümelin was Minister of State for Culture, teaches at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is Deputy Chairman of the German Ethics Council. He is considered one of the most cited personalities in the German-speaking philosophy scene.
