Traveling through the universe with the help of a wormhole? What sounds like science fiction has been seriously investigated by astrophysicists for decades, including Nobel Prize winner Kip Thorne. While he can't travel through space, he was the first to measure related gravitational waves - confirming Einstein's theory of relativity . In this talk, he shares his passionate enthusiasm for space exploration and takes a behind-the-scenes look at cosmology - from the Big Bang to wormholes, time travel, black holes and gravitational waves.
Kip Thorne, born in 1940 , is Feynman Professor Emeritus of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology and received the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of gravitational waves. He is considered the most famous relativity theorist of our time. For the science fiction film Interstellar (2015), he calculated whether space scenes conform to the laws of physics.
