Leor Zmigrod
Does our brain influence the emergence of political extremism? As the founder of the new research field of political neurobiology, Leor Zmigrod investigates how ideological beliefs and biology interact. Using experiments, she shows that our opinions do not exist as fleeting thoughts, but change our brains by fulfilling two basic needs: Clarity and Belonging. At the same time, she offers a new understanding of how our beliefs are formed and provides food for thought for the preservation of democratic values.
Dr. Leor Zmigrod is a pioneer in political neurobiology. She has been a researcher at the University of Cambridge since 2019. Forbes Magazine lists her as one of the 30 most influential people under 30. She won the Women of the Future Science Award and advises the UN, the British and US governments and other international organizations as an expert.
