Can we protect and heal our critically ill planet earth with the efforts of all, by adapting our way of life and a sustainable approach to the environment? What scientific advances can help us to tackle this challenge in a promising way? And how can molecular biology contribute to mastering it?
The "Environmental Research Initiative" pursues a special research approach that aims to develop concrete solutions for pressing environmental problems by combining extraordinary ideas with scientific and technological expertise.
Prof. Matthias W. Hentze is head of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of Heidelberg, author of numerous publications and textbooks and a member of several national and international scientific societies.
