Shirin Ebadi

Received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her extensive fight for democracy and human rights, especially for children’s and women’s rights, as the first Muslim woman. The Iranian lawyer and activist was the first woman to serve as a judge in Iran. Due to repression by the Iranian regime because of her political activism, she has been living in exile in the UK since 2009.
