Ernst Peter Fischer

Science does not explain away or remove mysteries, rather it does the opposite and leads into even deeper mysteries. Every new explanation of a phenomenon is more mysterious than the preceding explanation. You can spin it any way you want, the sciences make the world more mysterious with their explanations - and they enchant reality in the process. The lecture makes clear how, in the course of their history, sciences have transformed everyday riddles into unusual mysteries, from standard scientific models to sustainability ideas to the smartphone's recipe for success.

Prof. Dr. Ernst Peter Fischer, born in 1947, studied mathematics, physics and biology and completed his habilitation in the history of science. In the years that followed, he taught at the universities of Constance and Heidelberg. He is a publicist, book author and scientific advisor to the Forum for Responsibility Foundation.
