Laura Kreidberg

Exoplanets orbiting other planets outside our solar system were only detected barely 30 years ago - now we are in the midst of a revolution in their exploration.
Thousands of new discoveries in recent years have shown that exoplanets are very common - most stars host at least one - and are much more diverse than the solar system.

How does this diversity of planetary systems arise? How did they come to be? And is our Earth the only planet where life exists?

Dr. Laura Kreidberg is Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg. Her previous positions include the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard. She initiates and conducts world-leading as well as innovative research projects to understand the atmospheres of exoplanets and has been awarded numerous prizes for her scientific achievements.
