Peter Sloterdijk & Florian Schroeder

Peter Sloterdijk in conversation with cabaret artist Florian Schroeder about an analysis of Europe. What is Europe? There are many doomsday diagnoses circulating about our continent. We don't know what number to call to reach Europe; its inhabitants are decadent; the semi-continent that once colonized the 'rest of the world' has now in turn become part of the rest. On the one hand, news of the demise of the 'Old World' has regularly proven to be greatly exaggerated in the past; on the other hand, Europeans are no longer sure of their own characteristics: "They don't know where they come from, let alone where the journey is going," says Peter Sloterdijk in his latest book The Continent without Qualities (2024).

Prof. Dr. Peter Sloterdijk is a philosopher, cultural scientist and publicist who has sparked numerous debates in Germany with his articles and books. He taught philosophy and aesthetics at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design until 2017.

Florian Schroeder is a cabaret artist, author and television presenter. He studied German and philosophy in Freiburg and began his stage career during his studies, gaining experience as a radio and television presenter and receiving numerous awards. His satirical show Schroeder darf alles is regularly broadcast on ARD.
